Description

Ball mills are used for grinding tools in a variety of substances. To this end, the substance to be ground is introduced into containers made of materials with high hardness together with a set of balls of the same material. The machine prints a rotary motion to the vessel causing the ball to act mechanically on the substance by reducing it to a fine powder.
We offer this set of containers and balls made of agate, of varying sizes and diameters, for use in ball mills.

Agate is a quartz variety used for making mortar laboratory. These instruments are ideal for preparing samples of high purity by grinding and mixing substances semi-hard and hard thanks to the characteristics of the mineral used in its manufacture:
- High hardness (7 on the Mohs scale), which provides a high resistance to abrasion of non-contamination of samples by particles detached from the mortar.
- High density (2.6 g/cm3), ie, low porosity, minimizing sample loss and reducing cross contamination between samples.
- High resistance to chemical agents (acids, bases, organic solvents, etc.) except hydrofluoric acid and aqua regia.
